The next day in the late afternoon, Kate decided to get ready for the night. She wanted to celebrate her success and also show herself off in the new hot black dress. She dressed up, put on her heels, but still didn’t feel sexy enough. She didn’t want to take any risks in case she would meet some nice guy tonight.
Kate went to the bathroom and put a black headband in her hair. This looks better, she thought to herself, but I still look the same as always…
Hmm, I could try putting on some make-up!
Kate picked her red lipstick that she used to put only on the special occasions. She added two layers of mascara and painted the cat eyes with a black pencil.
Wow, I look gorgeously dangerous, she smiled to herself.
She decided to go to the club close to the Petite Pony center. It was quite far away and walking downhill on heels is not the most comfy thing. So she called the taxi.
No way! It was again that man!
As he was driving downhill he looked at her a couple of times in the rear-view mirror, but she noticed that he didn’t recognize her. Or maybe he did but didn’t want to talk to her.
Maybe he was afraid that if he did, she would decide not to pay.
When they arrived, the place looked overcrowded because there were many cars parked outside.
The moment Kate entered inside, the only people she noticed were two blond barmaids. What a disappointment, she thought to herself. Two bars and two women. That’s absolutely not fair.
Kate hasn’t eaten anything since the lunch, so she sat at the bar and ordered a meal. When she finished her mini-portion of onion rings with pink sauce, she got really thirsty.
She ordered the first drink of her life.
It tasted really good.
Kate exchanged some words with the barmaid and went to give a look upstairs. She was really hoping to find someone there, even a girl to keep her some company, but unfortunately, she wasn’t lucky this time.
Kate went to the bathroom… As she entered the opened door, she didn’t notice that it was the men’s bathroom.
While she was sitting on the toilet, someone entered. She heard them unzip the jeans. Kate looked through the hole at the bottom of her booth and saw a pair of male shoes.
“Oh no!” she whispered.
“Is there someone?” asked the guy, but Kate remained silent. She pulled up her feet so he couldn’t see them in case he looked down.
Kate waited until the guy went away. She slowly opened the door of the booth…
… and when she was sure he was gone, she stepped out.
She didn’t want to let him know it was her, so she decided to stay upstairs for some more time… Where the heck he came from? Kate wondered while she started playing a game on one of the arcade machines.
Kate kept on killing some sharks and dinosaurs for some time…
… but the fifth time she lost, she decided to go and get another drink.
She went to sit at one of the little tables, plus the couch looked really comfy.
As she was sitting there and drinking her party drink, she saw some people dancing.
One guy immediately caught her eye.
Kate didn’t hesitate, finished her drink and went to offer one to him. He smiled and said that he cannot drink tonight because he came here by car just to chill and dance, but if she would like, he could pay for hers. Kate smiled and said “Thanks! That would be great!”
They sat down and started talking…
“I’m David,” the guy introduced himself.
“Nice to meet you, David. I’m Kate,” she smiled at him and he smiled back.
“So… Are you here alone?” asked her David.
“Well, not anymore,” she smiled again.
“Yeah, right… well…,” he didn’t know what to say.
“So… Do you live in this town?” asked Kate.
“Actually no, I’m here on a vacation with my friend Jayden… I live in Bridgeport.”
“Ah, I guess it must be cool there…,” Kate said, not knowing where Bridgeport exactly was.
“Well, there is certainly more life than here… but I don’t mind. I think I would actually enjoy living here.”
“Yeah… I moved here a couple of days ago and I already love this town!” said Kate enthusiastically.
“Really? And where did you live before?”
“Appaloosa Plains. Do you know where that is?”
“At the end of the world?” he smiled.
“You know… I don’t really care where people come from… If I like someone, I just hang out with them whether they’re a homeless, a peasant or a millionaire,” he laughed.
“So… which category do I belong to? Peasant?”
“No, I didn’t mean to offend you… You are in the group of beautiful, charming women, of course,” he flattered her and she evidently liked it.
“How long are you going to stay in Monte Vista?” asked him Kate and sipped from her glass.
“Well, we actually have no idea… We just came here, rented a house in the center, drove around the countryside… We didn’t find many clubs or bars, so most of the time we did sightseeing. We went to visit the Colosseum, took a walk on the town walls… Stuff like that. ”
“So you just came here and rented a house in the center for two people…,” she wondered.
“Yeah, so we would have some privacy…”
“What, are you gay?” she didn’t hesitate to ask, it was also all the cocktails that made her feel more relaxed. Normally she wouldn’t probably even approach a guy like him.
“No, please! I love women!” David defended himself.
“Sorry… You spoke about privacy… So the first thing that came to my mind was this,” she apologized.
“It’s okay… You know, we are actually quite famous in Bridgeport,” he said. “So we were trying to stay incognito from the local paparazzi – if there are any in this town.”
“Oh… So you are famous?” she asked him.
“Well, not as famous as the actors or singers… We’re just models.”
“So I am talking to a model! Cool! I’ve never met one!”
“I’ve never met a girl like you either… In Bridgeport, they all seem so superficial and full of themselves. You know, I grew up in a small town like you, so I actually really appreciate talking to you,” he smiled.
“I really enjoy talking to you too,” said Kate and finished her drink.
“Would you like to dance?” David asked Kate.
“I’d love to!”
They danced, danced and danced…
When a slow song started playing, David took Kate’s hand and asked, “May I?”
Kate looked at him and said, “You may.”
David put his hand on her shoulders, pulled her closer to himself and started moving slowly.
“I think I just fell in love, Kate,” he whispered in her ear.
Kate smiled to herself and whispered back “Me too.”
When the song was over, the club was closing. David took Kate’s hand and pulled her in the direction of the exit in the back of the club. He told her to go out and wait for him. She didn’t understand but did what he told her. He appeared after a while with one hand behind his back.
“I want to thank you for this amazing night,” he said and gave a bouquet of red roses to Kate.
“Oh, wow! Thank you, David!” thanked him Kate and smelled the roses.
“Let me take you home, where do you live?”
“Above the pizzeria.”
“Above the pizzeria?”
“Yes, it’s a long story… I’ll tell you on the way there.”
Kate told David about her life in Appaloosa Plains, about the orphanage and Mary Graham and about her passion for horses.
When they arrived, David asked her if he could see her again tomorrow and Kate said yes.
“Well, see you soon then!” he said and drove away. See you soon then, Kate thought to herself and smiled.
